Industrial Ballast Solutions

Lead is the standard for ballast applications due to its high density and corrosion resistance. Whether you need to lower the center of gravity in a sailing yacht keel or counterbalance a crane, lead offers the most efficient weight-to-volume ratio. Van Krimpen supplies both solid cast blocks (stackable) and fine lead shot (pourable) to fill every cubic centimeter of your structure.

Trapezoidal Ballast Blocks (Custom Height)

Cast lead ingots with a trapezoidal profile, specifically designed for ship keels and bilges. While the base dimensions remain fixed (19 x 8 cm), these blocks can be cast to variable heights. This allows for precise weight customization between 2kg and 19kg per block, ensuring a perfect fit for your specific ballast plan.

Key Features

  • Custom Weight: Variable casting height allows us to hit your exact target weight requirements.

  • Keel Optimization: The trapezoidal shape is designed to fit snugly into the V-shape or narrow sections of a ship’s hull.

  • Corrosion Resistant: Ideal for marine environments (bilges) where moisture is present.

Triangular Stacking Blocks (13kg)

Our 13 kg triangular ballast lead blocks are easily stackable to utilize any available space. They are ideal for weighing down elements, vehicles, or boats, even where space is limited.

Specifications:
The triangular blocks weigh approximately 13 kg.
They are 19 cm long, 7.5 cm high, and 16 cm wide.

Our 13 kg triangular blocks are available individually, but it is possible to have one or more shots delivered to your location.

Our triangular lead blocks are produced in the Netherlands using clean, recycled lead as the basic raw material, which contributes to sustainability.

Why stock this?

  • Interlocking Stack: The shape allows for stable stacking without shifting, maximizing weight per cubic meter.

  • Sustainability: Produced in the Netherlands using clean, recycled lead.

  • Handling: Compact size (19cm length) makes them easy to position by hand in hard-to-reach areas.

Ballast Lead Shot / Pellets (Standard)

Lead shot is the perfect ballast material due to its versatile properties. It can be used to stabilize ships, machinery, and structures, and serves as counterweights for cranes and bridges. Thanks to its fine structure, lead shot, also known as lead shot, is easy to pack in handy bags of various weights.

Our standard packaging is 25 kg. With a diameter of approximately 3 mm per shot, lead shot is exceptionally fine and easy to handle. Its high density and bulk density make it perfect for weighing down objects. The bulk density of lead shot is 6800 kg/m³, which corresponds to approximately 6.8 kg/liter for smaller quantities.

Key Features

  • High Bulk Density: Achieves approx. 6.8 kg per liter (6800 kg/m³).

  • Versatile Filling: Perfect for hollow keels, centerboards, and vibration dampening in machinery.

  • Packaging: Supplied in robust 25kg bags for easy manual handling.

Why nickel-plated lead shot?
We also offer nickel-plated lead shot. The advantages of nickel-plated lead shot over standard lead shot are significant: the nickel layer provides protection against corrosion and minimizes direct contact with lead . We can pack the nickel-plated lead shot in various weights, with the standard quantity being 25 kg.

Key Features

  • Zero Corrosion: The nickel layer protects against saltwater and oxidation. No white lead oxide dust.

  • Clean Handling: Safe to handle without direct contact with raw lead. Ideal for laboratory environments, medical counterweights, or high-end yacht interiors.

  • Same Density: Retains the high bulk density of standard shot (~6.8 kg/L) with added protection.

Common Questions

We’re here to help you make informed choices.

No. This is our most important promise to you. Whether you need 1000kg for the season or just 5kg to top up your stock, we deliver. We act as your warehouse at a distance, so you don’t have to tie up capital in dead stock.

Since we value personal contact and custom solutions, we don’t use an automated webshop. Once you have received our price list, you can simply order via email or phone. This allows us to double-check your order and advise you on the best shipment method.

We understand that you cannot sell what you don’t have. We ship orders from our warehouse within 24-48 hours. For most European destinations, this means you will have the goods very quickly.

Many suppliers use standard lead shot which oxidizes, creating a white powder that dirties your shop and customers’ hands. We manufacture our soft lead in-house using nickel-plated lead. This remains 100% clean and oxidation-free, forever.

This is our specialized coating for hard lead blocks. Unlike cheap plastic coatings that crack and crumble, VK Pro Shield feels soft to the touch but is extremely impact-resistant. It protects both the lead and the diver’s equipment.

Our B2B pricing is exclusively available for diving professionals: dive shops, schools, distributors, and industrial clients (such as yacht builders or government services). We do not sell directly to consumers on this platform. Visit our B2C shop loodvoorduiken.nl
